RESONANCE BRASS
a group of professional instrumentalists, members of the Wrocław Opera Orchestra and the Representative Band of the Polish Land Forces. Their passion for chamber music, many years of friendship, and their pursuit of artistic fulfillment were the key drivers behind the idea to launch the Resonance Brass quintet project.
The members of the quintet are:
MARCIN KRÓL – trumpeter, composer, teacher, and music arranger. He graduated from the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, from the class of Prof. Igor Cecocho. He is also a graduate in composition, which he studied with Prof. Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil at the Academy of Music in Wrocław. He is the solo trumpeter of the Wrocław Opera Orchestra. Marcin has cooperated with e.g. NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, NFM Leopoldinum, the Musical Theatre in Łódź, the Lower Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra in Jelenia Góra, the Sudety Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Vratislavia Trumpet Consort.
GRZEGORZ KRAUSE – trumpeter and teacher. He graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice and the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, he also studied at Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Murcia in Spain. He worked as a trumpeter in the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra and the Lover Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra in Jelenia Góra. Since 2019, Grzegorz has been a solo trumpeter of the Wrocław Opera Orchestra. He also cooperates with other symphonic orchestras, such as the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic, Sinfonietta Cracovia, the Sudety Philharmonic Orchestra, or the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his artistic and teaching activities, he also works in music production.
JACEK BAŁKA – trombonist and teacher. He graduated from the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk where he did Master Degree studies in the class of Tadeusz Kassak, he also completed post-graduate studies at the Academy of Music in Kraków, where he studied under the instruction of Prof. Zdzisław Stolarczyk, and a one-year Erasmus programme at Kunstuniversität Graz. In the years 2010–2013 he was a trombonist in the Warmia and Mazury Philharmonic Orchestra in Olsztyn. Since 2013, he has been a solo trombonist in the Wrocław Opera Orchestra. Jacek regularly cooperates with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Sopot, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, and the Baltic Opera. He is an active figure in the musical life of Lower Silesia and runs a trombone class and an Entertainment Band at the School Complex No. 20 in Wrocław.
MARCIN WOŁOWIEC – trombonist and music arranger. Graduate of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław. He has cooperated with numerous symphonic orchestras (I, Culture Orchestra, Sinfonia Iuventus, Łódź Philharmonic Orchestra, Subcarpathian Philharmonic Orchestra, Lower Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, Sudety Philharmonic Orchestra), big bands (Big Band of Aleksander Mazur, Alex Band, Bartosz Pernal Orchestra, Nikola Kołodziejczyk Orchestra) and groups (Mikromusic, Łąki Łan, Grubson & Sanepid, L.U.C., Rebel Babel, Anita Lipnicka). He has also participated in many CD recordings, and one of them (Nikola Kołodziejczyk Orchestra “Chord Nation”) was recognized with the Fryderyk prize. Marcin is a regular member of the Representative Band of the Polish Land Forces and the Capitol Musical Theatre in Wrocław.
IGOR CECOCHO (replacing the late Paweł Spychała) – graduated from the Belarusian Academy of Music, where he studied trumpet and completed his doctoral studies. From 1977 to 1990, he was associated with symphony orchestras in Minsk, and from 1992 to 2006 he was a soloist with the Wrocław Philharmonic. Since 1990, he has taught trumpet at the Academy of Music in Wrocław, and since 2006 also at the Academy of Music in Łódź; in 2002, he was awarded the title of Professor of Musical Arts. He has performed as a soloist in Poland and abroad, made numerous radio, television and CD recordings, and is also active in historically informed performance on the natural trumpet. He is the founder of the Wratislavia Trumpet Consort, conducts masterclasses and serves as a jury member at trumpet competitions in Poland and abroad.

The late PAWEŁ SPYCHAŁA – trumpeter and teacher. He started his musical education at the music schools in Katowice. In 2005 he graduated from Master Degree studies at the Instrumental Faculty of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he studied trumpet under the instruction of Prof. Igor Cecocho. Then, in 2007, he completed post-graduate studies in trumpet performance. In 2019, Paweł graduated from studies at the Faculty of Early Music of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, having studied natural trumpet with dr Tomasz Ślusarczyk. In the years 2003–2017 he was a trumpeter of the Wrocław Opera. From 2006, was employed as a trumpeter with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic. In addition, he worked as a teacher at primary music schools.
