JAKUB GARBACZ – an organist, music producer and sound engineer, born in Kielce in 1975. He commenced his music education in the piano class at the State Music School in Kielce, simultaneously learning to play the organ with Jerzy Rosiński – an organist of the cathedral basilica in Kielce. In 2000, he completed with honors a degree in organ performance in the class of Prof. Mirosław Pietkiewicz at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, and in 2011 – finished postgraduate studies in sound engineering. He has taken part in numerous master classes in organ music interpretation and improvisation, as well as organ competitions: Brno – a semi-finalist (1997), Rumia – 2nd prize (1997), Vilnius (1999). In the years 1999–2001, as a grant holder of the Swiss foundation Stiftung für Internationale Meisterkurse für Musik, he actively participated in summer master classes given by Prof. Jean Guillou in the Tonhalle, Zurich. He has given concerts both at most organ festivals in Poland and abroad (e.g. in the Czech Republic, Finland, the Netherlands, Ireland, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden, Italy). He pursues an intense activity as a chamber musician, cooperating with choirs, soloists and early music ensembles. He collaborates on a regular basis with the flautist Joanna Woszczyk-Garbacz. Jakub Garbacz currently holds the position of the principal organist of St. Stanislaw Kostka’s metropolitan cathedral basilica in Łódź. He is an artistic director of the concert cycle named “Days of Organ and Chamber Music in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Łódź”, organized by the “Carpe Diem” Foundation. He gives demonstrations of the 58-stop organ of the metropolitan cathedral in Łódź. As a lecturer, he collaborates with the Church Music College of the Archdiocese of Łódź. He is also a member of the Church Music Commission in the metropolitan curia of Łódź. Apart from his strictly artistic activity, Jakub Garbacz runs a recording studio of classical music and the “Ars Sonora” record label; he is also a lecturer of the Music Academy in Łódź (phonography, sound engineering, implementation of online broadcasts of classical music concerts).
