JOHANNES UNGER was elected organist at the Marienkirche Lübeck in 2009. He is thus Dieterich Buxtehude's 10th successor. His duties include making music in church services and concerts. In addition, he founded the ensemble "Capella St. Marien" and the ensemble "Marien Brass". He initiated the "Buxtehude Days Lübeck" and supervises the organ building projects in St. Marien. He is a member of the board of the Int. Dieterich Buxtehude-Gesellschaft e.V. and teaches at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. Johannes Unger has performed with renowned musicians and ensembles, including the Thomanerchor Leipzig, the Dresdner Kreuzchor, the Dresdner Kammerchor, the orchestras of the MDR and for many years with the Thüringischer Akademischer Singkreis. Concerts regularly take Johannes Unger to many countries of the world. He has made numerous CD and radio recordings. He has won three internationally renowned organ competitions, including the Bach Competition 2000 in Leipzig and the St. Albans Competition (GB) 2001.
