JÓZEF SERAFIN

JÓZEF SERAFIN graduated from the class of Prof. B. Rutkowski and Prof. J. Jargoń at the State Higher School of Music (PWSM) in Kraków (1968 – diploma with honours), and from the class of Prof. A. Heiller at Hochschule fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna (1972 – diploma with honours). He is the laureate of the top prizes at e.g. the Polish national organ competition in Warsaw (1967) and international organ competition in Nuremberg (1972). He has given concerts in nearly all European countries and in the USA, Canada, Japan and Kazakhstan. Józef Serafin is the artistic director of international organ and chamber music festivals in Kamień Pomorski and Leżajsk, and the Juniores Priores international festival for young organ players in Sejny. He has sat on the juries of many international organ competitions (e.g. in Prague, Nuremberg, Paris-Chartres, Mainz, or Gdańsk). He is the full professor of the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and the Academy of Music in Kraków. In 2015 he was awarded the medal "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" by Pope Francis. In 2017 he was awarded the title of honorary professor at the FCUM in Warsaw.
